Z-Camp Guidelines
The 2019 Z-Camp for ages 13 thru 17. Look forward to sharing an enriching and rewarding camp experience with your peers. Please be aware, 2019 Z-Camp has limited enrollment and not everyone is able to participate
The purpose of this camp
The purpose is for our youth to get to know each other in a healthy platonic environment
Our Goal
Our scheduled activities are designed to help campers gain a fuller appreciation, understanding and respect for their Zoroastrian religion, heritage and community while having fun. Through team building, we aim to connect Zoroastrian teens and build long lasting relationships. Below are some of the guidelines to help ensure a safe and rewarding experience for everyone
Camper Drop-off and Pickup
Campers need to arrive and check-in no sooner than 10am and 12pm on July 25th
● Drop-off campers at San Jose Dar-e-Mehr – 10468 Crothers rd. San Jose 95127
● Campers flying in should book their flights for San Jose Airport (SJC) - Share
flight information a week prior so transportation to the camp grounds can be
coordinated appropriately
● Upon arrival campers need to check-in at the registration table and turn in any medications
Campers need to be picked up between 8 am and 11am on July 28th
Accommodations
Campers will be provided with meals and all day snacks daily. Boys and Girls will have separate sleeping quarters. Campers are responsible for bringing their own towel, sleeping bag, pillow, clothing and any personal items. Campers sleep on the floor, they can bring yoga mats, foam pads, etc. for comfort but no inflatable mattresses. We recommend using an extra sleeping bag.
Z-Camp Guidelines Personal Items
All personal items brought to the program are the campers responsibility and must be labeled. Z-Camp is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Required
● Towel
● Sleeping bag and Pillow
● Toiletry kits (toothbrush, toothpaste, travel soap, etc.)
● Appropriate clothing and HAT for outside activity
● Leave all electronics, valuables, pocket knives at home. This includes cell
phones. Counselors will check in all phones for the duration of camp and will be
returned on the 28th. Campers may use camp landline to reach parents
● In case of emergency only Cell 408 888-0885
Recommended
● Sunscreen - None will be provided or applied by camp staff
● Camera (optional) Cell phone cameras are not allowed
We expect campers to respect one another’s privacy by refraining from posting pictures without each others consent.
Special Needs
We want campers to have the best possible experience. Please let us know during registration if camper has severe allergies, requires medication or has any other special needs.
Medications
● If camper has special needs for medication during the three days please make those needs clear on your Health Form. For medications, including epipen and asthma inhaler, that may need to be taken during camp, you must complete the Medication Dispensing Information, Permission, and Waiver form.
● Campers are expected to bring whatever medical supplies or medications, including epipen and asthma inhaler, that they will need each day, along with written instructions. Counselors will provide access and remind campers to take medication according to their schedule.
Attire
Campers will get dirty. Please send your child with appropriate, modest and adequate clothing and footwear. Campers will participate in sport activities. For protection from exposure to sun and insect bites, the following modest attire is required:
❏ Sturdy footwear (closed toe shoes and sandals)
❏ Pants that fit snugly around the waist (no sagging)
❏ Shirts that appropriately cover the torso (no see through, crop top, low cut, strapless or
spaghetti string shirts)
❏ Shorts that are knee-length only (i.e. Basketball, Bermuda Shorts)
❏ Summer clothes for the hot days
❏ Warm clothes for the cold nights
❏ Extra socks and underwear
❏ Nice/Dress clothes for graduation ceremony during the final night
Campers are expected to display appropriate behavior at all times. To assure a healthy environment and enjoyment for all participants, each camper is expected to:
● Respect all camp participants, staff, and the surrounding nature.
● Be pleasant to others and refrain from using foul language.
● Abide by the dress code.
● Refrain from causing physical harm to oneself, other campers, and staff.
● No fraternizing with other campers.
● Use equipment, supplies, and facilities properly.
● Always wear shoes.
● Stay with the group and in sight.
● Campers undermining and/or disrespecting other campers or staff will be warned once
then sent home immediately upon second offense.

Discipline
Z-Camp Guidelines
If behavior problems arise, camper will be contacted that day to discuss the nature of the problem. The following disciplinary techniques will be used:
● Verbal warning
● Parent involvement: if there is a repeating offense, the parent will be contacted
● Removal from program: if problems persist or the behavior is severe such as causing
intentional harm to others or consistent disruptions of camp activities. Note: Parent/Guardian will be held responsible for picking up their child and purchasing an earlier flight if needed.
